Ten Commandments Summarized in Two

Ten Commandments

(Ref: Exodus 20:1-17, Deuteronomy 5:6-21)

Jesus emphasized the importance of living by the commandments.

Matthew 19:17b … but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

Mark 10:19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Even the great commandments are vain without the proper motive.

Matthew 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

The Commandments flow from loving God and your Neighbor.

Matthew 22:36-40 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

(Ref: Mark 12:29-31)
