The Life Is In the Blood
There is a lot of debate concerning exactly why the gentleman on the American one dollar bill died. President Washington contracted a severe sore throat at 68 years of age. The first President was a strong believer in the effectiveness of phlebotomy, commonly known as bloodletting. It was presumed that eliminating blood from the body would heal disease. George Washington died from this malady, which had been greatly empowered by the voluntary loss of several pints of blood. Draining blood to heal someone had been common practice for almost 2,000 years. The great wonder is how any self-proclaimed Bible believer could ever have invested any credibility into such quackery as draining blood to live longer. The Bible is quite emphatic that this practice would be medically absurd on the basis of the creational terms and relationships of the Intelligent Designer. The Bible repeatedly states, from the very beginning…. that the life is in the blood.
Genesis 9:4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls.
Why would anyone claiming to believe the Bible ever think that draining one’s life will somehow heal them? Doesn’t that supposition seem extremely disrespectful to the God of the Bible?! Wouldn’t any self-proclaimed ‘doctor’ (whether Christian or Jewish) suggesting that blood be drained to heal the sick be questioning the wisdom and intelligence of the Creator they profess to worship? However, for over a couple thousand years ‘Christian’ Doctors practiced phlebotomy, in direct contradiction to the clear, repeated statements of their God.
It was only during the nineteenth century when medical science finally started catching up to the Bible concerning the foolishness of draining a person’s blood supply in order to heal them. The spiritual lessons still escape the ‘Christians’ who claim to worship the God of the Bible in today’s medically ‘enlightened’ age. There were two great divine blood laws under Kingdom Law that the Creator gave to Moses at Mount Sinai before God’s chosen people inherited the promised land. One of those laws had originated with Noah after the flood (quoted above). Both laws are expressed in Deuteronomy 12:23,27 Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. 24 Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water. And thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD thy God: and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.
- Don’t eat blood (life).
- Pour out the blood at the sacrificial altar
The point is that all life belongs to the Creator (the Intelligent Designer). Therefore the children of God (Israelites) were commandment not to eat blood…ever. Just as the children of God were not to eat blood (life) so believers should not ‘eat’ life. We should not consume or indulge in life. We are not free to ‘grab all the gusto’ or stop to smell the roses or be a life consumer, living to have a good time. Believers are supposed to pour the blood (life) out at the altar. Hebrews 13:10 specifically identifies that bronze altar where all the blood offerings were presented to God as representing Jesus Christ. We are supposed to pour our lives out at the feet of Jesus Christ. This is the lesson of the two great blood laws: 1. Don’t eat blood (life) and 2. Pour out the blood (life) at God’s appointed altar of sacrifice.. .which is ultimately Jesus.
The lesson of the blood is quite extensive in scripture and the perfectly symmetrical terms of creation (nature). It is absolutely amazing that the supposedly intelligence elite of mankind down through the centuries have been so ignorant of the truths of the Bible, endangering lives because they were completely ignorant of the book they professed to believe. This is why socially respected doctors drained blood to save lives and why the political and religious elite believed the earth was flat (see our previous blog post). It is also extremely strange that it took medical doctors thousands of years to come to the simple Bible truth that they should wash their hands before the medically treat the sick. Doesn’t anyone actually read the Bible with any understanding? Don’t they realize there is an Intelligent Designer?! We’ll look at this fascinating subject in the next blog posting. It is a basic Bible truth that disease is contagious by touch.
